Data Acquisition, Distribution and AnalysisGrid technologies
developed by the eSTAR
(e-Science Telescopes
for Astronomical Research)
project led by Liverpool JMU
and Exeter University to
control
RoboNet-1.0. This approach melds databases, telescopes and
intelligent agents into a seamless observing system. The agents request
data, interpret the resulting observations using information from other
databases, and adapt their observing plans to maximise the scientific
return. The archive is
being developed from that in place for the Liverpool
Telescope. The total anticipated data volume is 6 Tb (Terra-byte) per
year, and in order to provide an integrated archive with AstroGRID, the
aim is that these data should all be stored online. |
