ARI Major Projects

  • The Liverpool Telescope Project - The Liverpool Telescope is the world's largest robotic telescope and is controlled by the JMU Astrophysics Research Institute.
  • National Schools' Observatory - a major educational website, established by Liverpool John Moores University, to allow schools to make use of a professional robotic telescope designed for scientific research, called the Liverpool Telescope.
  • RoboNet - a prototype global network of large (2m) robotic telescopes.
  • Spaceport - astronomy-based visitor attraction next to Seacombe Ferry Terminal on the south-bank of the River Mersey, less than a mile from the ARI. The Spaceport centre is a joint venture between Liverpool John Moores University and Mersey Ferries, and aims to demonstrate the excitement of science by combining knowledge of the Universe we live in with stunning graphics, interactive displays, simulator rides, virtual wormholes, 3D shows and much, much more to create an experience for young and old alike that is both fun and educational.
  • Angstrom Project - Andromeda Galaxy Stellar Robotic Microlensing (Angstrom) Project is a high cadence pixel microlensing survey of the bulge of the Andromeda Galaxy.
