Welcome to my website!

If you have made your way here, then I suspect you are either friends, family or partaking in one of the astronomy distance learning courses offered by John Moore's University.

Since this is a homepage, I suppose I should provide a little bit of background information about myself. That's me, on the left, during a recent trip to the Lake District. For my sins, I am a professional astronomer, having recently completed a Ph.D. at the University of St Andrews. My research has involved efforts to detect and characterise starlight reflected from the atmospheres of close-orbiting extrasolar giant planets, and followed on from the M.Sci(Hons) degree in Astrophysics obtained, again at St Andrews, between 1996 and 2000. I am currently project manager for the National Schools' Observatory, based at the Astrophysics Research Institute of Liverpool John Moore's University, where I'm also involved in tutoring some of their Astronomy distance learning courses.

I currently live in the North Wales countryside, close to Wrexham, with my wife Jenny, who works in a local hospital.
