For Staff

In addition to the resources on the pages below, we encourage staff to consult LJMU's Equality, Diversity and Inclusion pages.

Core working hours

The ARI adheres to a core hours policy of 10am to 4pm and meetings should not be scheduled outside of these hours.

Human Resources

The LJMU HR team are there to support staff members at every stage of their employment through to retirement. They are there to provide all members of staff with the essential information they require on working at LJMU and, in particular, matters which affect their rights and obligations as employees. Please see the LJMU staff pages for more information, or contact the ARI's Business Partner Laura Halpin (l.halpin@ljmu.ac.uk).

ED&I related policies

LJMU policies on a number of ED&I related topics (gender reassignment, bullying and harassment, flexible working, parental leave, time off for dependents...) can be found here, while the rest of the policies are in the policy center. If you have questions, or cannot access those files (most of them require an LJMU staff login and password), please get in touch with the E&D commitee or our Business Partner.

Counselling

Staff members (including PDRAs) do not have access to LJMU's counselling services. However, they can call a telephone helpline (with Cigna, call the helpline number 0333 234 2189 and pick option 1). Staff will need a verification number, to get this number please contact our Business Partner Laura Halpin (l.halpin@ljmu.ac.uk) or someone in the ED&I committee.

Face-to-face counselling (external to LJMU, contact Laura Halpin for a referral) is also available for staff meeting one of the following criteria:

  •  they are currently off sick with stress/anxiety or depression
  •  they believe that they would benefit from face-to-face counselling rather than using the telephone service.
  •  they have already accessed the telephone counselling service and have not found it helpful

If adjustments need to be made to your workplace then you can contact the occupational health services. If you have any questions, please do speak to one of the MHFA-trained staff (see http://www.astro.ljmu.ac.uk/eandd/committee)

Staff networks

You can find here information on the disability staff network, LGBTIQ+ staff network, BAME academics and professional service staff network and the women professors network.
