Merseyside Astronomy Day

Speaker: David Eden

David Eden Name: Dr David Eden
Place: Astrophysics Research Institute, Liverpool John Moores University

Dr David Eden is a Postdoctoral Research Assistant at Liverpool John Moores University. Having completed his PhD there, he moved to Strasbourg before returning to LJMU. His research focuses on determining how stars form within the Milky Way using data from Galactic Plane surveys from both ground-based and space-based telescopes.

Stars shape the evolution of galaxies like the Milky Way and the best way to view the Milky Way is via Galactic Plane surveys at all wavelengths. I will discuss how astronomers use these surveys to understand how, where, and why stars form in the Milky Way and what this can tell us about star formation in other galaxies.
