Description file for Sedgwick19ab.fits (binary table) These data describe the core-collapse supernovae (CCSN) rate density as a function of galaxy stellar mass and the inferred galaxy stellar mass function (GSMF) of star-forming galaxies. The details are described in Sedgwick et al. (2019a) https://ui.adsabs.harvard.edu/abs/2019MNRAS.484.5278S/abstract and updated in Sedgwick et al. (2019b) https://ui.adsabs.harvard.edu/abs/2019arXiv190904535S/abstract In particular, the relationship between CCSN rate as a function of mass and the GSMF is given in Section 2 of the 2019a paper. The plots that can be reproduced using these data are shown in the 2019b paper. The CCSN-rate densities are corrected for the effects of SN detection efficiencies as in Figure 11 of 2019a, or Fig. 1a of 2019b with the SFM photo-z also. To convert these values to a star-formation rate density (SFRD) as a function mass, you need to divide by the R-value that is the number of CCSNe per mass of stars formed. We used log R = -1.9 in 2019a to produce Fig. 12. For a Salpeter IMF, Madau & Dickinson (2014) provide a value of 0.0068 (log R = -2.17) for comparison (their Section 5.2, k_cc value). SFRD per bin in log mass is then given in units of M_sun yr^{-1} Mpc^{-3} dex^{-1}. Column details: 1 logMstar Galaxy Stellar Mass.
