Who am I? Where am I?

My name is Robert James Smith. I am a professional astronomer at Liverpool John Moores University. I am currently involved with the commissioning and operations of the Liverpool Telescope. In my research, I am interested principally in many aspects of QSO research. There's even a picture of me to help you determine if I am really the person you are trying to contact.

Why am I being so precise and pedantic? Well over the last few years:

  • The UK research council, PPARC, has sent me letters intended for both Russell Smith of the University of Durham and Kester Smith of Institute of Astronomy, ETH Zurich.
  • NatWest bank has sent me letters and a bank statement intended for Mats Sågfors and Munarazaman Kahn. I closed my account on the assumption that they were distributing my account details to other random individuals.
  • Barclays bank happily informed me they had issued my credit card to someone else, but they didn't know who. In the end it turned up again. They had simply lost it. I closed that account too.
  • Cambridgeshire county council have sent me a court summons intended for Mr Robert S Smith.
  • I understand that Smith is a common name, and can cause a certain amount of confusion, but `Mats Fredrik Sågfors'? Anyway, here's my current address. Do get in touch....
