Postdoctoral position in computational galaxy formation

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research position in cosmological simulations, to work with staff in the Computational and Theoretical Galaxy Formation group at the Astrophysics Research Institute of Liverpool John Moores University, UK.  The goal of the proposed research is to develop state-of-the-art cosmological hydrodynamical simulations to simultaneously test theories of galaxy formation and dark sector physics and to aid the interpretation of upcoming wide-field surveys, such as LSST, Euclid, SKA, DESI, and various X-ray and CMB missions.

You should have a PhD in astronomy/astrophysics or a closely related field by the starting date. We seek candidates from a wide variety of fields, including applicants with expertise in (but not limited to): cosmological simulations; galaxy formation modelling; theoretical cosmology; astroparticle physics; astrostatistics; gravitational lensing; and observational analysis of large datasets.

Informal enquiries may be made to Dr. Ian McCarthy, email: i.g.mccarthy@ljmu.ac.uk

Please note all of our vacancies will be closed to applications at midnight on the advertised closing date, unless otherwise stated.
